FREE KIDS ACTIVITY KIT AT NATURE CENTER 

Kids 12 and under can receive a free Nature Kit (while supplies last) during their visit to Shumway Oak Grove Regional Park's Nature Center. The center is open weekends from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, parking $6 cash. For more information, or to book a school tour, call the Nature Center at (209) 953-8814. 

MUGGLE WALK HERBOLOGY WALK JULY 21

Explore the Dark Forest (Native Plant Garden & Trail) during Professor Sprout's Muggle World Herbology Walk, on Sunday, July 21 at 10 a.m. at Shumway Oak Grove Regional Park's Nature Center. Learn about magical properties of native plants and how some are related to the Muggle World during this 45-min., family-friendly walk. Free event, no reservation required. $6 cash parking fee, no pets, please. FLYER

EVERYTHING BAGEL NATURE WALK AUG. 4

Come out for the last “Everything Bagel Nature Walk” at 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 4 at Shumway Oak Grove Regional Park (meet at the Yokuts Trailhead). Presented by the Oak Grove Nature Center, join docent and former National Park Ranger Margaret Pearson Pinkham for a one-hour trail walk to learn a little about the plants, birds and furry animals. Free event, no reservations required. $6 cash parking fee. No pets, please. FLYER

ASTRONOMY, NATURE CENTER FUN AUG. 13

Come see Lagoon Nebula and Trifid Nebula during Astronomy In The Park on Sat., Aug. 10 at Shumway Oak Grove Regional Park. Come early for astronomy activities inside the Nature Center until 7:30 p.m. Sunset is at 8 p.m. Event is free (weather permitting), parking $6 cash. FLYER

FIRE RESTRICTIONS REMAIN IN EFFECT

Fire restrictions remain in place at Dos Reis, Westgate Landing and Stillman Magee regional parks due to extremely dry conditions. Campfires, stoves and grills are prohibited both at the campgrounds and day-use areas. Restrictions will remain in effect until conditions change, please check back for updates and further information. 

NEW FEES FOR FACILITY RENTALS

A new fee schedule has been implemented for San Joaquin County Parks, including facility rentals at Micke Grove and Shumway Oak Grove regional parks. Please see Rentals Page for fee changes. 

DISC BASKETS CLOSED AT SHUMWAY OAK GROVE

The 2nd and 3rd baskets on Shumway Oak Grove's Purple Disc Golf Course are temporarily closed at this time due to ground maintenance. We do not have an estimated reopening date, please check back for updates.

WATER PLAY OPEN AT MICKE GROVE

It's summer! That means the water play feature at Micke Grove Regional Park is now open daily! Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and it's free for park guests (parking $5 weekdays, $6 most weekends).

MICKE GROVE ZOO, FUN TOWN

As a reminder, Micke Grove Zoo is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fun Town is closed at this time (miniature golf coming soon!).

Don't worry about paying parking fees every visit, get our an Annual Pass to County Parks! Just $100 gets free parking to enjoy most day-use activities at six regional parks, including Micke Grove and Shumway Oak Grove. Include a tow for a boat or watercraft for just $50 more, Passes are good for one year from date of issuance and can be purchased at the Park Office located at Micke Grove weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Questions?
