Park Update: Stanislaus Picnic Shelter Area Temporarily Closed for Repairs

During the storm on Tuesday, April 21, Micke Grove Regional Park experienced damage when a lightning strike impacted one of the park’s historic Heritage Oak trees near the Stanislaus Picnic Shelter. Portions of the tree fell onto the shelter and nearby restroom facility.

We’re grateful to share that no one was hurt, and all animals and staff at Micke Grove Zoo are safe and were not affected.

Crews have been on-site assessing the damage and have already begun cleanup efforts. Due to the damage sustained, the Stanislaus Picnic Shelter, nearby restrooms, and surrounding area are closed while repairs are planned and completed.

We appreciate your patience as we work to restore this area. Our team is actively moving forward with next steps and is committed to reopening these amenities as soon as it is safe to do so. Updates will be shared as progress continues.
