Parks, Little Manila Rising To Bring Trees To South Stockton Parks

San Joaquin County Parks and Recreation is partnering with Little Manila Rising to bring more trees, shade and environmental improvements to County parks in Stockton through a long-term community investment focused on park revitalization.

Over the next three to five years, the Stockton-based nonprofit will plant and maintain more than 1,000 trees throughout County-operated parks in the Stockton area, with a focus on improving shade coverage, park conditions and overall usability in South Stockton.

The initiative is funded entirely through grants secured by Little Manila Rising, including support from CAL FIRE and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, bringing significant outside investment into County parks at no cost to San Joaquin County. The project will provide training opportunities in urban forestry and park stewardship while encouraging long-term community involvement in County parks.

Community events are expected to begin in the coming months, with additional details to be announced.
